Purple Flag – Overdose Awareness Event

August 21st from 5:00 to 8:00

Lakes Bay Unity Park in Pleasantville

Join us as we honor those we have lost and stand together to raise awareness during our Purple Flag event in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, observed each year in August .

Together, we will plant purple flags, with each flag representing a life lost to a drug overdose in our community. This powerful display serves as a reminder that every life mattered and that every loss leaves a lasting impact on families, friends, and our community.

We invite you to attend and help us:

  • Honor the lives of those lost to overdose with dignity and without stigma.
  • Support individuals and families who continue to grieve these losses.
  • Raise awareness about the overdose crisis and the importance of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery.
  • Stand together in hope, compassion, and a shared commitment to preventing future overdose deaths.

Your presence helps send a powerful message that every life is valued, every loss is remembered, and together we can make a difference.

Hidden in Plain Sight

September 1, 2026 at 6:30 pm

Director’s Link Creative Art Center – Hamilton Mall

Hidden in Plain Sight is an interactive workshop designed to help parents recognize the early warning signs of substance use and understand how alcohol and drugs can be hidden in everyday places. Through realistic room simulations, visuals, and discussion, parents learn how common household items, social media, and teen culture can conceal substance use behaviors that often go unnoticed.

The workshop goes beyond awareness by equipping parents with practical tools to start difficult conversations, set clear expectations, and respond effectively if concerns arise.
