About Grief & Resources

Understanding Grief

Grieving the loss of someone to drugs or alcohol can be especially complex and painful. Alongside the deep sadness that comes with any loss, there may also be feelings of anger, guilt, confusion, or stigma. Everyone experiences this kind of grief differently—there is no “right” way to feel or to mourn. Understanding that these emotions are valid and that grief is a unique, individual process can help create space for healing and compassion during an incredibly difficult time.
